reWrite Hi Lo limit for CMC-99 via ETU modbus

Dear Multicon,

Now, what about if I would use two separate Logical channel as set point for Hi and Low limit.
We could write the set-point through ETU modbus right?
If yes, then we could set the Hi and Lo limit remotely via ETU. :roll:

please advice. :?:

Dear Haitham Sungkar,

Can you explain your idea more precisely?
If you wish to set logical channel value remotely, without using Xming, you can use Modbus RTU protocol. MultiCon CMC will be a Slave, PC with dedicated software will be a Modbus RTU Master. Please take into consideration that you have to use RS-485 instead Ethernet connection. RS-485 is avialable on power supply slot. There is no need to have ETU or ACM card.

Dear Wiktor,

that's right.
We gonna set logical channel value remotely without Xming (remote display mode).
We've to built one software for monitoring as well as Temperature setting. Because they (the user) don't want to confuse using multiple software.

do you mean that, it can not be done from Ethernet (ETU)?
I know that we could use the built in RS-485. but the customer don't want to invest a long cable for new networking device. instead, they will use an existing Ethernet cable (RJ-45 plug) on site.

Dear Haitham Sungkar,

It can not been done from Ethernet ETU. Modbus RTU is implemented with RS-485 slots only.

what about Modbus TCP Protocol. Multicon CMC has Modbus TCP Protocol, doesn't it?

Dear Haitham Sungkar,

1. You can read from and send values to logical channels using Modbus RTU with RS-485 connection,

2. If you wish to read a variable (value from logical channel) only from MultiCon, you can also use both Modbus TCP or HTTP protocol methods. If you wish to download logged data file from the device, it can be done using HTTP protocol only. Modbus TCP doesn't support file transfering.
We suggest, to enter internal CMC web page ( http://<IP_OF_YOUR_CMC>/NetworkInterfaceDescription.html), there you can find few examples and description how to download data file from CMC using HTTP protocol.

3. To send a variable value directly to any logical channel, Modbus TCP protocol can be used. Logical channel has to be set as Modbus Slave mode. Modbus TCP is required to send a data value to CMC, but java applets are not required to do this.
