MultiCon in a bitumen filling application
Bitumen is a demanding medium – when cold, it is as hard as asphalt, but at high temperatures, it becomes a liquid with variable density. In an application that maintains its condition, continuous monitoring of process parameters – including temperature, pressure, and flow – is essential before any pump can be started.
The application uses a MultiCon controller, – data recorder device, in the version CMC-141-PS42/ETU/FT2/I16/S8-1B1, equipped with:
-
2x pulse inputs for flowmeter readings
-
16x current inputs for temperature and pressure sensors
-
8x SSR outputs for controlling heaters and pumps
How does the process work?
Numerous signals from different sensors are connected to a single MultiCon CMC: temperature (in tanks, pipelines, and valves), pressure, and flowmeters monitoring the dosing process.
- The device analyzes the data in real time,
-
Verifies compliance with technological conditions,
-
Controls heaters, ensuring the correct medium temperature at key points of the installation,
-
Activates the appropriate pumps only when all parameters are within limits.
All of this is implemented using virtual channel logic, conditional functions, and alarm thresholds.
Parameter recording, alarms, event triggering, touchscreen operation, and process visualization – all in one device.
Thanks to the large number of inputs/outputs and flexible configuration, the MultiCon CMC is an excellent choice for multipoint and distributed applications.
